Contd. -2- E1/G22218. Duplex carburetters, one throat per three cylinders, as at present used on the Eagle, the distribution and economy should be good. The general diameter of the piping for the Condor is 2¼" - this is pro rata with the 1¾" piping which we wish you to use for the Eagle. The set of pipes that you should rig up must have the same number and character of bends as shewn on Lec.904, although it is not essential for you to use a Duplex carburetter. We think you will probably find it most convenient for you to arrange two R.R.C.H. carburetters. The objects of the test are to observe the distribution power and economy obtained with this type of induction system. The urgency of the test is very great, as the design work we have in hand at the present time on the Condor engine depends on obtaining as soon as possible, a knowledge of the results which this proposed induction system is likely to give. We understand from Mr Hives that he is likely to leave West WitteringHenry Royce's home town on Saturday the 23rd. inst. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} N.B. 235A (500 T) (S.D. 408. 26-4-17.)
