By: from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X7080 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LGL2.11.28. 'SS{S. Smith}' INDUCTION PIPE HOT SPOT. X7070 It is agreed to use the Phantom type carburetter with overhead weir type induction system on the first SS.{S. Smith} engines and should like a scheme and details to use exhaust heating. All cyl. head castings should be provided with the means of using exhaust gas heating and the induction pipe bend for same. We shall test a water heated system but past experience, particularly with the std. carb., does not indicate that we shall obtain such good results as with the exhaust heated scheme.
