R.{Sir Henry Royce} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Copy to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} " BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} " HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} HYDRAULIC SHOCK DAMPERS. X7520 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M24.12.30. X.7520. X.5520. X.235. Attached herewith is a print of N. sch. 3190., (original to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}) shewing hydraulic damper with vertical pistons. The only point in which we think we have departed from instructions is the filter. We have returned to the circular type as it appears very difficult to get in a flat one of sufficient dimensions. Formerly we found it difficult to get in the circular filter when the passage was on the lever side. Now that it has gone over to the other side the problem is easier. The damper as drawn appears as though it would be suitable for both front and rear 25HP., and rear Phantom 2. We have not applied the brakes to the rear axle as we have assumed that it will be desired to test the principle first. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
