Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, SEEKAY WAX. We are sorry to note from your letter of October 17th that you have had no reply to your letter of September 24th. We must apologise for the delay which has been due to some confusion at our end between your letter and a subsequent one under the same heading but with a different reference. We are informed by our Technical Service Department that when Seekay Wax is heated some volatilisation of the lighter fractions of the wax will occur on prolonged heating. The main effect of this will be, however, that the melting point of the residual wax will be slightly increased. If the temperature is not raised to more than about 10° above the melting point, at which stage the wax is a mobile fluid, the loss by volatilisation will not be appreciable, and by taking care that the temperature is not raised more than a few degrees above the melting point, we do not think any difficulty will be encountered from decomposition of the wax. In connection with this matter, we have prepared some sheets showing the precautions it is desirable to take for handling Seekay Wax. We are enclosing herewith a copy of this precaution sheet. You will appreciate that this is not issued because we have any fears regarding the use of Seekay Wax, but in this case, as with all I.C.I. products, it is our established policy to inform our customers of the precautions to be taken when using our products.
