E.F.E. X4617.E. JD {J. Draper - Frames} 10. 24-6-29 X4617 Re Failure of cell in S.S Batteny (18a) A Exide cell fitted with Threaded Rubber Separators (no 5) has failed in the above battery. The cell has been opened up for examination. The negative plates were good. The Threaded Rubber Separators were good, but rather brittle & liable to break. The positive plates were fair having lost a fair amount of active material & were weak mechanically. The positive plates had the apices of the grid bars facing inwards which I think has helped a great deal in retaining the active material. The depth of sediment was about 3/8". The cause of failure was due to the negative plates treeing (contd) | ||
