X. 3915 GOSHAWK 11. STARTER SWITCH.

We send you herewith drawing No. Lec 1323 shewing the remaining details of the above. This drawing also deals with the position of the starter pedal relative to the footboards. The best angle for the foot pedal lever should be determined finally by experiment. The pedal mechanism shewn on Lec 1408 should be used, the shaft length and position being modified as required by the switch scheme. The switch casing has been made suitable for operation with or without oil.

Further information is given with respect to the upper terminal base. The first brushes can be made from tubing and have the slots milled in them by a taper cutter rising out of engagement as the slot grows narrower, the material of the brush meanwhile being held down against the cut by 2 side clamps clamping the material on to a mandril. For production of course the slots will be punched. The brushes are shewn as if in engagement with the moving element of the switch. They require settling before assembly so as to bear definitely on the moulded Bakelite separator.

We also send you herewith our Blue Print of Lec 1517, on which we have made a number of notes in pencil in amplification of the information already given. We should be glad if you would return this same Blue Print to us as soon as you have finished with it.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
