c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} 1021 CONFIDENTIAL. 19th.November 1938. BY.1/N. Messrs.Park Ward & Co.Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, London N.W.10. Dear Sirs, Re Dashboards - B.5. B.50 and Wraith 80. for 10.B.5. 3.B.50, and 30.G.7. We shall have to fit the sheet metal dash as originally designed for 8.B.5, to 9.B.5, and 2.B.50 because you have built two bodies to suit it. After our tests on 8.B.5. we believe we can make a material improvement in the stability of the front end of the car if we can carry the body bottom side and base of the dash further forward and at the same time keep the dash attachment to the frame as far to the front as possible. a new design of dash shewn on FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}309 a print of which is sent herewith. We would be glad if you would work to this design for 10.B.5. 3.B.50 and 30.G.7. it being clearly understood that the flange of the dash will be increased from the size shewn on the scheme for B.5. to suit the increased scuttle sizes of B.50 and Wraith 80. We would be glad if you would shew on your F.S.D's of all three cars concerned the new dash and extended bottom-sides, the latter having to be lifted on the under side at the front end to pass over the side spare wheel carrier fixing. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. CHIEF ENGINEER - CHASSIS. | ||
