X8710 22.9.28. EXPERIMENTAL IGNITION COIL ROAD TEST PROCEDURE. (1) Check battery voltage and contact breaker adjustment. (2) By means of cells inserted in reverse direction in series with ignition supply, test coil (with engine temp. 80°C.) at 8 volts, and 10 volts, at high speeds, low speeds, and on pick-up. Check performance similarly at 12 volts. Low speeds and pick up to be tested on top gear. N.B. During these tests the dynamo charge must be switched off. (3) Should misfires occur at 12 volts check similarly with a known standard coil. (4) Maintain engine at 100°C. for 30 mins. and repeat test 2. (5) If misfires persist during or after test 4, try the effect of less ballast resistance or increased battery voltage. --- EFC. | ||
