Honeyman - Retail orders}/VDI/14-3-30. Dictated 13-3-30. EXPERIMENTAL PHANTOM II FOR R-R A.I. With reference to our conversation yesterday, we confirm the arrangement then come to that for the first experimental Phantom II chassis with left hand drive we will order from Messrs. Barker & Co. a close-coupled Saloon body, exactly similar to that which we ourselves use on chassis 1-WJ for trials purposes and as shewn in Messrs. Barker's drawing FLB-8737-A attached. This body is already in an advanced state of construction. It is trimmed with a nice brown leather and we have told Barkers to cellulose the body panels Ivory and to cover the head with Black leather. Barkers have undertaken to have the body ready for your lorry to collect from their Works at the end of the month and a little later on we will give you an exact date when your lorry should attend at Barker's Works to take it away. We have told Barkers to finish off the rear wings but not to spray the front wings as we understand you will probably have to put a pot in the near-side front wing to clear the steering pendulum lever. We have also told Barkers not to cut the front instrument board nor to provide front floor boards but to make up the rear floor boards and to provide the usual floor covering as well as the usual running board materials. It is noted that you will take care of the accessories but, of course, if we can be of any help to you in connection with these we will willingly do what we can on learning your requirements. We are obtaining a black trunk (without inner cases) to fit between the back of the body and the spare wheels and we will have this delivered to you separately from the body. You, of course, are bearing in mind that when you receive the body you will have to make some alterations to the sub-frame already built into it to suit the peculiarities of the chassis. Now it has been definitely decided to take this close-coupled Barker body, EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} is taking no further OVER | ||
