MYTH REAR SPRINGS.

The grooved section spring has definite theoretical advantages over the usual flat section. For this reason the Myth rear springs were of grooved section.

Four Myth rear springs have been supplied. These have not yet been tested, but a preliminary inspection has shown that they are not good springs. There are kinks in some of the leaves and others are not to the drawing radii.

Unless Toledo Woodhead, who are the only people in this country to make grooved section springs, can assure us that they will supply good springs, we should design a Myth spring in flat section steel. This would give us a wide choice of makers.

The springs just removed from 12.B.V. were made by Toledo Woodhead.

The ends of some of the leaves of these springs are 1/4" away from the leaves above. This is altogether wrong.

The Toledo Woodhead springs supplied to Vauxhall had only about half the durability of similar springs supplied by the Eaton Manufacturing Company of America.

It remains to be seen whether Toledo Woodhead can be persuaded to mend their ways.

This is serious, we shall have to make an alternative design.
