To EJJ. X1209 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KW.13.12.35. No. 30 Car Test House. This has now been discussed with Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} and he has agreed that some protection is desirable. We have sent him a copy of the sketch attached. The equipment suggested is a built-in desk, 4' long x 2'6" wide with two drawers, and the existing drawing board to take up the remaining space and hinged to the side of the office with suitable props. With regard to the removal into K-10, we are at the moment running day and night to clear the big bore engine for production and therefore do not want to break down any longer than we can possibly help. We observe there is quite a lot of work to be completed, and we shall be glad if you will urge the completion before you ask us to disturb K-10. The following are some of the jobs which can be almost, if not completely, finished off, before closing down on K-10 :- (1) Shelter - as above and sketch attached. (2) Water mains. (3) Exhaust silencers. (4) Petrol system. (5) Oil Cooling System. (6) Instrument Boards (Complete with instruments as previously ordered, mounted on their pedestals in required positions. (7) Heating. If a Robinson Heater is to be used, some alteration should be adopted to the scheme as in No.5 test house, as the gas which collects in the roof is blown down again on to the testers. We suggest that the heater be mounted against a hole in the wall, so that fresh air is drawn in. (8) Ventilation. In conjunction with item (7), a system of ventilation is desirable on the lines of the existing, on the roof of the Coppersmiths' shop. | ||
