-3- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.26.3.36. 20/25 HP. 22-G-V has now covered 6,000 miles in England, and has been passed by London as being a suitable model for all production cars. It has returned to the Works to have the Ph.III type of rear axle fitted, prior to continuing its running. Certain problems with regard to vapour formation in the induction system have been experienced during this run, and these are being investigated as the mileage continues and also at Derby. As soon as this car is satisfactory under English conditions we think that it should complete its tests on the Continent. (1) Cylinder Head Investigations. These are proceeding. In view of the opinion on 22-G-V, however, no attempt will be made to rush this on to production. (2) Radiator Shutters closing with wind pressure. Experiments which we have carried out show that it is possible to improve this point by a small modification to the shutters, and this is being carried out on 22-G-V while it is at Derby. (3) Endurance Test on the Fully-Split Pistons. The 50 hours bench running has been completed, and these pistons are in satisfactory condition. (4) Slow Speed Idling. Investigations are continuing to prove this point. Apart from the points enumerated, we are concentrating on improved riding, reduction in tyre noise, and improvement in engine silence and smoothness. | ||
