The out of balance due to the sleeves in a 60°, 12 cylinder engine of SpectreCodename for Phantom III size and firing order, is a couple whose plane of action rotates through an axis parallel to the crankshaft at half crankshaft speed and in the opposite direction. The effect is to make the engine 'nose' about its c.g. The maximum value of the couple is 400 lbs.ft. at 5,000 r.p.m. (in the horizontal plane). The balance required on each of the end sleeve cranks = 2.3 lb.ins. Max. value of couple 400 lbs.ft. Min. value of couple 185 lbs.ft. Ha/Smth. | ||
