SOUTH KENSINGTON, S.W.10.
Gentlemen,
Three-Bladed Wiper.
Our Derby works passed to us your letter, R.P./D.S, of the, 12th inst. with the request that we should endeavour to obtain the information you require.
You have probably already been advised that the wiper is to be fitted to a body which is being built by Messrs. Park Ward & Co. Ltd. of 473, High Road, Willesden, N. W. 10, for an experimental Phantom III chassis.
In reply to our request for the length of the flexible driving shaft and confirmation that the spindle centres should be 22" apart, Messrs. Park Ward have prepared the enclosed full size drawing of the screen.
You will notice that this states the length of the driving cable etc. and, in addition, still shows the distance between the spindle centres as 22".
Messrs. Park Ward point out that with the wide screen their body calls for it is undesirable to reduce the distance between the spindle centres because to do so would leave the extreme outer edges unwiped.
At the same time, they agree with us that it is undesirable to have an unswept section in the centre and it is suggested that you should provide a pair of specially long blades which will overlap with the 22" between the spindle centres.
Please let us know whether you can do this.
If you feel that it might help for one of your representatives
