To EF. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} x1263 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}4/JH.10.6.36. Re Petrol System Failures. Further to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW.25.5.36. With reference to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}7/MH.{M. Huckerby}23.3.36. We have carried out tests with the petrol pumps at present on the car and also 3 sets of standard pumps from stock, to determine whether there is any difficulty in self-priming with only a small quantity of petrol in the tank. Our tests prove that with the carburetters and petrol line dry we can self-prime in 17 seconds with only half a gallon of petrol in the tank. The engine started perfectly at this figure.
