The existing shoulder on the 3rd.motion shaft and spring ring on the layshaft on to which the thrust from the nuts will come, are adequate for 10,000 lbs., but in the event of more load being required, as we think would be necessary for a permanent scheme to prevent bearing movement of the gears on the shafts, some modification would be desirable.

We attach a print of N.Sch.4448 which shows the slight modifications needed for this experiment.
