HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 958. INLET TO THE BEARINGS CONDITION OF ENGINE OIL TEMP INLET TO THE BEARINGS THAT WILL BE REACHED AT 75 M.P.H WITH AIR TEMP OF 30° C. 1) PLAIN BOTTOM HALF. OIL PRESSURE 50 LBS/□" NONE TURBULENT OIL FLOW ACROSS BASE. 145° C 2) PLAIN BOTTOM HALF. OIL PRESSURE 20 LBS/□" TURBULENT FLOW. 135° C 3) RIBBED SUMP. OIL PRESSURE 20 LBS/□" TURBULENT FLOW. 128° C 4) RIBBED SUMP. OIL PRESSURE 20 LBS/□" TURBULENT FLOW. RADIATOR SHUTTERS FULLY OPEN * 118° C 5) FURTHER DROP THAT COULD BE OBTAINED BY HONEYCOMB WATER COOLER IN THE SYSTEM. 103°C WITH AN OIL PRESSURE OF 50 LBS/□" THE BEARINGS WILL NOT RUN IF THE INLET OIL TEMP IS KEPT BELOW 100°C. WITH 20 LBS/□" OIL PRESSURE, HOWEVER, IT IS PROBABLE THAT AN OIL INLET TO THE BEARINGS OF 85° C. SHOULD NOT BE EXCEEDED. THEREFORE, EVEN IN CONDITION ⑤ WE ARE 18° SHORT OF A SAFE TEMPERATURE. * THESE TESTS WERE TAKEN AT 0°C AND CORRECTED UP TO 30° C. AIR. THE ARTIFICIAL POSITION THEREFORE AROSE THAT THE RADIATOR SHUTTERS WERE ALMOST CLOSED WHICH DEPRIVED THE TOP HALF OF ITS COOLING DRAUGHT. AT 30° C THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN FULLY OPEN. A TEST WAS THEREFORE CARRIED OUT IN THIS CONDITION. | ||
