Hanbury - Head Complaints} We wired you this morning as below:- "BAILEY BARKER SPORTS SALOON 24-EX ONLY BODY COMMENCED STOP READY MAY ELEVENTH STOP REQUIRES E COLUMN STANDARD TANK TWO REAR SPARE WHEELS STOP SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} INSTRUCTED HOLD UP BODY 26-EX." You are probably aware that Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} has instructed that only one SS.{S. Smith} L-H chassis should be produced. At the same time he cancelled the body orders for 25-EX and 26-EX, only allowing 24-EX with a Barker Sports Saloon body to be proceeded with. The body for 24-EX will be completed by the middle of May. The other bodies have not passed the full sized drawing stage - where they now stand. The Sports Saloon requires an 'E' column and a standard petrol tank and dual rear wheel carrier. The filler, of course, will be on the English off-side. This car will be exactly the same as 18-EX. We are sorry to hear that you have started on chassis with the 'D' column but you will recollect that the instructions for the first SS.{S. Smith} L-H chassis issued from W.W. were that it should have the 'E' column. It would appear, therefore, that the easiest course would be to modify the column. If, however, there are difficulties of which we are not aware and you must have a body for a 'D' column, it will be necessary for us to put the whole matter before Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and obtain his permission to proceed with the Hooper Enclosed Limousine body for 26-EX, delivery of which we cannot obtain until at least ten weeks from the date of commencing work. Would you kindly let us know what you propose to do? EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
