20 HP. EXHAUST SYSTEM. RE SPHERICAL JOINT WHERE THE EXHAUST PIPE CONNECTS ON TO THE FRONT END OF THE SILENCER.

We have had a number of breakages at the top of the steel down take pipe where it couples to the cast iron manifold.

The proposals for "India" and "G" Series which follows "India" are the original design where the steel pipe connecting the Exhaust Manifold and the Silencer itself had a fixed joint at the front end of the silencer.

The result of this is that the expansion effects on the long steel pipe result in occasional breakages, coincident possibly with conditions of driving which permit of either high speed for long distances or the use of the engine at high speeds on gears.

I am interested in knowing whether you realize that we are still going on with the old system and whether, if you are not appreciating it, whether you consider that we should bring in the new sliding joint for "India" and following chassis.
