WOK/PG SUBJECT Delco Ignition - Controller Coils. 28th June.......1935. Dear Mr. West, Thank you for your letter of the 22nd instant. I have told Mr. Rushton to send for your attention two of our controller coils with wiring diagrams, as it is quite necessary that these be wired up as indicated in the wiring diagram. I have become a great believer in a bigger output coil. I have found, for instance, that I can take six defective plugs, and I mean plugs which are defective because they misfire ordinarily by virtue of a little over-oiling or slight carbon (I do not mean, of course, plugs with cracked porcelain) and I can put these in an engine which is ignited by a control coil and obtain quite efficient ignition. I have also found that with radio suppressors fitted to the plugs I can increase the plug gaps of an ordinary passenger car engine to as much as .040 or .045 inches without misfiring. I also find generally that I obtain smoother idling and a smoother pickup when accelerating. | ||
