To EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X980 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG7.2.24. 40/50 HP. STEERING. X980 X2563 On the standard 40/50 chassis which we received for fitting 4-wheel brakes, we found that as we received them there was considerable variation in the turning circles. We do not know what the procedure is for setting the steering stops but we recommend that a part of the final test should be to see that the maximum lock is obtained and that the tyre should come within half-an-inch of the side steering tube or frame. We also recommend, that not only the turning circle should be checked, but the angle of the steering lock on each side should be taken. There may be quite a big variation in the setting of the side steering rod and other parts which will affect the steering. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
