BOOMING CARS.
P.2. & 20/25HP.

From your memos on the above subject, and especially R2/M13.3.31., I presume that you believe that I have been participating in the investigation in connection with booming cars.

That is not so. Since the changes of December last and the rush on J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. when a new order of things was introduced I have had no connection with coachwork matters. I have not seen or tried any of the cars having the booming complaint, and apart from your memos. I know little about it.

In R2/M13.3.31., you suggest that I should represent 'coachwork' in conjunction with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} in coming to some definite conclusions on certain points which you raise. I would like to be able to do as you ask, but it does not seem to be possible, or desirable in view of my isolation from all that has been done in London and Derby.

I write this to you since it would appear that you have not been informed of these changes and I feared that you might feel that I have failed to do as you ask.
