Dear Robotham, RE: MY BENTLEY B 34 AW. My car has been up at Bentleys for just over a fortnight where the engine was decarbonised, the valves ground, all the oils throughout the chassis changed, and the noise in the gear box rectified. It was returned to me last Thursday since when I have covered 800 miles, having been down to Torquay and back, visiting a considerable number of motor firms en route. This car has a definite maximum speed of a bare 92 m.p.h. Driving very hard under advantageous conditions the engine just touched 3,700 revs in third when the speedometer showed 92 m.p.h. It will also do just about 4,000 revs in third at 80 m.p.h. I do not want to be a nuisance to you but I do happen to know that most of these experimental Bentleys do clock at 98 m.p.h. and I believe there are certain alterations which could be made to my carburetters which would give me this additional speed. (a larger Choke) Will you really be generous and tell Hythe continued | ||
