MARINE
~~Detail Designers~~

With reference to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}4/JH.8.9.40, we cannot afford to have three designers permanently on marine work.

You will recollect that in pre-war days we never had more than two men on engine design work and after Mitchell left this was reduced to one.

We are getting another man for commercial vehicle work, who may be able to assist occasionally. I am rather worried about instrument boards and, of course, really we have nothing on any rationalised car which is satisfactory, even when money is no object. We certainly have nothing that is acceptable for the Rippletto, the instruments for which must necessarily be of a cheaper type.

I suggest that Allan concentrates on this until it is cleared up.
