-2- Hal/R.18.5.38. The most important piece of the final B.III which has yet to be tested is the small gearbox designed to reduce cost. This also has a simplified servo. It will be on the next car. Until we get this gearbox we cannot finalise the engine mounting which is also dependent on the exhaust system. The designs of the duplex exhaust system are not yet completed. We expect these parts to catch up with the rest of the car however. Briefly we are satisfied with the progress we have made in the time available on the new suspension and frame, which in our opinion are the most difficult parts of the programme. A true value for what has been done can only be determined from the results of a 15,000 miles road test. We consider that there is little doubt that the engine unit will come through such a test with flying colours. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} | ||
