How long was the pipe on SpectreCodename for Phantom III 3? Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

Re SpectreCodename for Phantom III Exhaust Tail Pipe.
----------
On Phantom cars we allow a maximum overhang of coachwork beyond the rear axle of 46ins., and give a maximum length of tail pipe measured from the rear axle to the end of the fish-tail of 43¾ ins.

As we understand that you have not yet instructed the tail pipe which was drawn shorter than this, we suggest that the detail be altered so that the Phantom dimensions are obtainable on SpectreCodename for Phantom III. The shortest possible exhaust pipe length from rear axle to the end of the fishtail would be approximately 39¾ ins., that is to say, there is no need to provide the fitment which enables the Coach-builder to cut off the braized clip on the pipe and fasten the fish tail itself to the rear chassis cross member by a special fitting.

This is not long enough. See Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}
