Dear Hives,

Thank you very much indeed for getting Lappin to ring me up yesterday morning. As requested by him, I am sending up to you, addressed to you personally, the rest of the transmission of my motor car, by passenger train. I am sending the unit complete, that is the two propeller shafts complete with their casings and the pinions and crown wheels. My reason for sending it complete is that, should you decide to do anything, you will know what the whole job consists of, and I should be very grateful to you if you could strengthen up any parts that you think necessary. I do not mind how much weight you put on, as I am out for a 100% reliable job, which I know you would be able to do for me.

I think you may find that the crown wheels and pinions are in not too good a condition.

If there is anything that you would like to know about the job, let me know and I will be up at Derby just as quickly as a Bentley can take me.

I cannot thank you enough for all the trouble you are taking over this for me.
