THOS. FIRTH & JOHN BROWN Limited. Continuation Sheet No. 1. ........ through which the Mainplate would have to travel from the free to the Maximum bump position. Calculation, here also, reveals that for such conditions, coupled with a specified range of stress not to exceed 45 Tons per square inch, the thickness of the Mainplate should be .313" or thereabouts. In connection with this question of flexible springs for the 20/25.h.p.Car, it is possible that you may be thinking of certain correspondence which took place between us on 21st May 1931 and after- and which was addressed to us by Mr.Robotham and finally settled by Mr.Bailey. We shall be glad to have your comments and instructions in due course. Yours faithfully, THOS. FIRTH & JOHN BROWN LTD. [Signature: H.W. Parker] for Director. [Handwritten Note] Have arranged for one set of springs to be produced with solid eyes thin main plates having no oil holes. [Initial: Les] | ||
