ENAMELLING

Referring to the S.U. Carburetters which were recently enamelled at the Works, we give below particulars of the enamelling. All metal priming and enamel is supplied by Messrs. Thornley and Knight, of Birmingham.

Castings are prepared in the first place, by giving a reasonable scratch brush finish, the enamelling operations being as follows:-

1st. Coat
3 parts of Metal Priming No.6.
1 part of Ebony Black Enamel No.6701.
Supplied ready mixed to RR. as No.1.
This is sprayed on and stoved for 2 hrs. at 280° to 300°F.{Mr Friese}

2nd. Coat.
Equal parts of Metal Priming and No. 6701 Ebony Black Enamel.
Supplied ready mixed to RR. as No.2.
Sprayed and stoved similar to 1st. coat.

3rd. Coat.
3 parts of No.6701 Ebony Black Enamel.
1 part of Metal Priming No.6.
Supplied ready mixed to RR. as No.3.
Sprayed and stoved similar to 1st & 2nd. coats.

4th. Coat.
Repeat 3rd. Coat.

Before 4th. Coat is applied, parts are flatted down by rubbing with Durex Grade No.320. Emery Paper.
