| 1262 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}4/MH.{M. Huckerby} 24th. April, 1939. E.R.Hall, Esq., 53, Berkeley Court, LONDON, N.W.1. Dear Sir, We have received both the radiator and the oil cooler for the Phantom III engine. Regarding the former, we do not think the matrix is big enough to dissipate the heat to the cooling water on this size of engine, however, we are rigging it up in a temporary manner to try it out and will let you know later whether it is suitable or not. The oil cooler is far too small for the job; however, on the engine there is a cooler built into the crankcase. If when installed in the boat, the oil temperature rises too high (above 100°C inlet) then we can supply you with a cooler and pipes complete, similar to the ones we use on our test rigs. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
