X8520 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY4/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 15.3.26. FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER. Some little time ago, in discussing the above matter with Mr.Cox, it was suggested we might simply grease the leathers instead of soaking them in oil. I notice Oy. has tried out a similar thing and obtained higher figures on the damping. The point I had in mind was that if they soak the leathers in oil it presses out very readily from between the cone surfaces, resulting in the pressure all being taken up between the flat surfaces of the discs. Would you kindly try out some shock absorbers merely greased, and let me know whether in your opinion they are an improvement on the standard practice. By BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
