49421 Telephone message from Miss Elias for CJ:- 8/7/24. Re Front Axle Control. The last correspondence we can trace is a memo from Mr.Day to Mr.Bailey in which he says that Mr.Royce would like the Experimental Department to test the double radius rods indicated on a drawing sent to them. What has happened since then? Have we any result of the experiment? If not, when do you expect results? The questions we have before us are:- If springs mentioned are about 1" do not very materially affect the very unsatisfactory, perhaps almost impossible control by springs of the front axle - (1) Can the double radius rods be applied to the 360 chassis already issued? If so at what extra cost per chassis over and above the already estimated cost of fitting four wheel brakes, including scrapping of material and work in progress? (2) What delay would be entailed and how many more chassis would be issued without front brakes, as compared with present programme of spring control? (3) What would be the extra cost, over and above the estimated cost of fitting front wheel brakes, of substituting radius rod control for spring control on chassis which are not to leave the Works until they are complete with front wheel brakes? | ||
