Request for official acceleration figures for the Bentley Trials Car B-2-MR ahead of an Autocar road test.

| 1379 S/W. {Sales / Derby Works} Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Bentley Trials Car B-2-MR. CxIO/KW13.1.39. This car will be with you on Tuesday next for looking over before the Autocar road test takes place. We should like to have some official acceleration figures for this model, as all we have to work on at present are shown in the enclosed. The figures for the pre-overdrive car were taken from the Autocar, but they date back as far as 1936. You may remember that the later road test of the Autocar produced figures which were not as good as those of 1936, so we did not reprint the article. The overdrive figures were obtained with the Motor World representative in Scotland, but our man Burrage was driving. We should be glad if you would give us your concurrence with the overdrive acceleration figures, or suggest others you would look upon as official, as firstly, it is helpful to have something to show interested enquirers, and secondly, we hope they would at least show that the overdrive model is - even only by a small margin - better in acceleration than its predecessor.
