Coverley - Production Engineer} E/HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.14.9.36. Gearbox 25/30 & Bentley. We send herewith N.Sch.4900 to overcome the lateral binding referred to in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}3/JH.10.7.36. We have not heard of any complaint regarding the original Bentley design N.Sch.4355. In this case only one bearing cage can work out of place. In the case of N.Sch.4355 (which appears to be still in production although L&c.4484 was made to supersede it) the same method of retaining the cage in place as is shewn for the small cage on N.Sch.4900 can be used. We are relying on the use of a leather cover over the gate to prevent the entrance of dust to the interior of the gate and, therefore, to allow us to dispense with the close fitting floating washer at present provided at the outer end. The floating washer at the gearbox side of the gear lever does not require to be altered and should be retained. E/HDY.{William Hardy} N.Sch.4900 herewith. | ||
