Dear Sirs,

Road Springs.

Referring to Mr. Wortley Fawcett's recent visit to discuss the question of slight modifications to the Rolls-Royce type of clip, we are sending you herewith 2 sets of the undermentioned blueprints incorporating all the modifications discussed between us at the time of the visit in question:-

F55251-4 F77077 F77078-87
F77724-7 F55052 F55057-66
F77720-3 F55053 F55054-6
F55255-8 F77076 F77088-106
LF.987

The modifications incorporated as a result of our discussion are:-

(1) Centres of the clip have been increased slightly on both pieces.

(2) Shims have been introduced to enable the correct top clearance to be obtained.

(3) Limits have been modified on the side clearances so as to give a somewhat higher range.

Since the visit in question, things have been moving pretty quickly at this end and we have obtained definite results from our testing out of the Silico-Manganese Springs against Chrome Vanadium. The life of the springs in question on our bumper (which represents the test upon which we put most reliance) is:-

-a- Silico-Manganese Springs.... average life 26 hours 6 mins

-b- Chrome Vanadium Springs.... " " 19 hours 47 mins
