Hives, Esq., Messrs Rolls-Royce, Limited., Nightingale Road, D E R B Y. Dear Mr. Hives, Very many thanks for your first report on the running of Rapson tyres on your Rolls-Royce car. This was addressed to our old Office at 35, New Cavendish Street and I shall be most grateful if you will arrange for all future reports to be sent to this factory direct. With regard to your impression that the tyres, although inflated the same as Dunlops, rode slightly harder, this is probably correct. The Rapson tyre is considerably stronger than the Dunlop and is specially built with a thickened rubber at the lower side-walls to permit of it being safely run in ruts in foreign countries and to carry overloading strains without risk of the shoulders breaking up. We recommend lower pressures than Dunlop, Michelin or any other manufacturers and shall be most grateful if you will kindly arrange for the pressure in all tyres to be reduced by 5 lbs. This will make the pressure in the rear tyres 40 lbs and that in front 35 lbs -1- All communications to be addressed to the Company, not to individuals. | ||
