This was eventually traced by Cricklewood to wiring which had become burnt out as a result, so Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} thought, of the mud and water which had been so plentifully splashed on to it during one or two wet days when, for hours together, we were ploughing through potholes full of water. Upon arrival at Cricklewood it was found that the magneto was out of action, the collector brush having burned away, whilst the battery ignition was about to cease owing to burning of the platinum points. DETAILS OF OTHER FAILURES NOT INVOLVING STOPS ON THE ROAD. One mechanical. The joint for the exhaust by-pass for the hot spot of the carburettor failed, with consequent blowing of the joint and very unpleasant noise. Ignition Stops. Magneto as mentioned above, and battery ignition failure due to blown fuses. Bt.{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} | ||
