These troubles are being dealt with and should quickly disappear. The Expl. Dept are carrying out tests with stainless steel valve seat to overcome flooding. This will be reported upon in due course.

Item (25). Valve Springs Breaking. Valves Sticking.

We have had one recurrent complaint of breaking of the new semi-closed circular ground springs. This has been definitely traced to seaming of the steel wire and is not due to the design. Generally better all round results are being maintained. We have not received any recurrent complaints of valves sticking.

Item (26). Radiator Shutters Sticking & Filler Cap.

These complaints have been dealt with and on future cars they should be deleted.

Item (27). Speedometers.

With the improvements made to the instruments, troubles should be considerably less on all future cars. There are at present recurring complaints with the old type. We propose taking this up with the A.T. manufacturers.

Item (28). Rear Axle Oil leaks.

The depots have now received full instructions on how to incorporate the modifications to cure the oil leaks. There have been no complaints with the axles having the modification. A breather is being tried out in conjunction with the modification to obtain an entirely oil retaining axle.

Item (29). Gearbox Oil Leaks.

This has been fully dealt with by depot sheets.

Item (30). Tappets.

There is nothing further to report.

Item (31). H.T. Wire Tubes.

We have taken up with E.S. the cost of the new wiring tube and they have promised to look into the matter. This new tube will come into production when present stock is used up.

Item (32). Magneto H.T. Wires. Phantom I. & II.

Depots have now received instructions for the heat shield to be fitted in a recurrent case. The spacing of the wires is being dealt with in the new tube.
