SUMMARY OF TEST. OIL RELAY IGNITION CONTROL. Further tests with phosphor bronze inner piston - lost movement eliminated in lever from governor, and cup leather made to work very freely - have enabled us to improve the ignition advance curve very considerably. The operating of the relay is now more consistent under all circumstances. The phosphor bronze piston has an advantage in that it is possible to allow greater clearance when it is cold, and yet the same clearance as the steel piston when the oil warms up. We actually measured the pull required to bring the governor weights together by attaching a spring balance to the end of the lever from the governor. We found the weights would just start to separate at a pull of 1 1/4 lbs. with contd :- | ||
