( 263 ) Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}8/JH. 23rd April, 1937. The SU. Co.Ltd., Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, Birmingham. For the attention of Mr. Skinner. Dear Sirs, It has been decided to change C.5 diaphragms after 10,000 miles and replace with 0.5 oil silk. Owing to the extra expence of sending pumps back from Depots to your Works it is suggested that we carry out this operation at the Depots and return to you the old assemblies for which you arranged to credit us 10d each assembly. We have issued instructions as to how this is to be done and will in our own interest see that the setting is carried out to the latter. We understand the price of the pump has been reduced by reducing the guarantee period to 1 year. We would like you to confirm in writing that guarantee will not be affected if the diaphragms are changed in our depots. In any case this would only effect cars covering over 10,000 miles in the year. The pumps would also be tested on our own rig before refitting which has shown itself to be more searching than the tests at your Works. If you agree to this arrangement we would be glad if you will supply 12 wedges to be used for reassembly of the units. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
