R.R. 403A (40 H) (SL 42 12-7-23). J.H., D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} ORIGINAL Expl. No. 4225 4580 REF:Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/LGM.17.10.23. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to EY. c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to OY. X4225 C4580 STANDARD GOSHAWK INDICATOR DIAGRAM. We have carried out further investigations to check the initial compression diagram of Goshawk 11. engine, which we have previously circulated (ref.Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LGM.9.23.) We find that our first figure considerably exaggerated the lack of coincidence between the curves representing the pressure variation in the cylinder on the upward and downward stroke of the piston. We consider the attached print to be a more accurate representation of the facts, showing a very much more reasonable amount of incipient burning.
