X4275 ROLLS-ROYCE OF AMERICA, INC. SPRINGFIELD, MASS. RECEIVED OY4.R.102827 October 28th, 1927. Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} F.{Mr Friese} Clarke, Rolls Royce Ltd., Derby, England. Dear Mr. Clarke: RE. IGNITION X3/29. X.4275 Mr. Nadin supplies the attached information regarding the ignition coil without ballast which goes to show that this system is quite free of any danger of damage to the coil. We prefer this form of coil very much to the earlier type with ballast, and actual service results show it to be almost completely free from breakdown (less than half the cases of breakdown of the older coil with ballast.) We believe that England would be well advised to adopt it. As far as we know there is no ignition made in the U.S. which has not adopted it. Yours very truly, Maurice Olley MO/R Encl. | ||
