Dear Mr. Rowbotham, One Technical Review has been published during the course of December, this dealing with Rotary Valves and giving details of the Cross, Cuddon-Fletcher and Aspin types, all of which have been run and have given very promising results. Other features of technical interest have been the suggested specification for a 3-litre Grand Prix racing car, the first article on which appeared on December 6 and suggested a light alloy stress skin chassis, and the second on December 13 suggesting a V-12 engine with high supercharge developing 600 b.h.p. per litre. In view of the fact that the grand prix racing formula will come up for revision at the end of next year, there is a real interest attaching to the suggestion made in our issue of December 20 that the new formula should be limited to compression ignition type engines. We feel that the basis of racing from both commercial and research angles will be greatly widened if this ruling were to come into force. Turning to more everyday affairs, road tests have been as follow:- | ||
