Tyre mileage in different weather conditions and the reliability of low-pressure tyres.

| contd :- -2- therefore the mileage as we would anticipate, was low. Our records shew that we get less than one-half the mileage during the hot weather compared with wet Winter weather. This is confirmed by Messrs. Dunlops experience. On experimental cars we have not found the low pressure tyres any more liable to puncture. We have found however that if the car is run with the tyre flat only a very short distance, the tube is destroyed. From our experience to date, we should say that we are likely to get slightly less mileage with the low pressure tyres - somewhere in the region of 10%. We have got a to remember that in fitting 6.75" tyres, we are not introducing a novelty: these have been standard on Daimlers and the 6-cyl. Bentley and several other cars, for a considerable time.
