new experience, for it has been found that the better the aerodynamic shape, the thinner is the layer of air stuck to the body or boundary layer and hence the greater tendency for door shuts, beads and window recesses to cause a roar. You will recollect how bad the Burney car was in this respect. There is no doubt that as our cars become more streamlined we shall have greater difficulty in keeping the wind noise within bounds.

SCREEN WIPER.

The wipers left a patch in the centre of the screen untouched. This was very dangerous. A much greater angle of wiper could have been used.

CUT-OUT.

The fumes in the car when the cut-out was opened were very bad. I believe the valve was not seating as the smell was present when it was shut.

SIDE WIND.

With a strong cross-wind the wind pressure on the tail affected the steering and on some occasions this was very disconcerting - such as when passing out of the shelter of a house, wall or belt of trees.

WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION.

I formed the impression that any weight that could be moved back on the car would be all to the good in improving the riding and the road holding of the car.
