21st. July, 1939.

Messrs. Borg & Beck Ltd.,
Tachbrook Road,
Leamington Spa.

For the attention of Mr. Armitage.

Dear Sirs,

re 10" Long clutch.

In confirmation of our 'phone conversations of this morning, we are arranging to return to you some of the consignment of clutches received during the last day or so.

Inspection and testing of the release lever setting is now proceeding, and at the moment we are unable to state the total number to be returned, but apart from the lever setting, we regret that there are several instances of other faults which are evident on visual inspection, namely -

Two with release levers of different lengths (this is apparent at a glance without any measurement).

Several with release lever adjusting screws slack in the threads, which we fear might result in the thread becoming worn in service.

Some with balancing holes drilled deeply into the section of the pressure plate which we think you will agree, on inspection, is likely to unduly weaken the plate.

The defective clutches will be forwarded to you as soon as possible, with tags calling attention to the particular faults.
