Rolls Royce Ltd., Derby, ENGLAND. Dear Sir, re HURLEY-TOWNSEND SPARK PLUGS. I am extremely obliged for your letter with enclosures of April 13th., and am more than delighted with the report of your tests. I am sorry you have not been able to conduct any lengthy endurance tests, but hope you will be able to do so in the near future, especially in view of the fact that the results so far obtained would seem to justify this action. Needless to say, I am entirely at your disposition in any way that I can be of use. As I have already told you, I am trying to arrange for the manufacture of these plugs in England, which will, however, probably be delayed until such time as the Air Ministry have completed their exhaustive tests, which have been in progress now at Farnborough since last November. I have just written to Major Bulman suggesting that perhaps one of the next engine type tests might be run with these engine plugs - would you be agreeable to this proceedure if approved of by the Air Ministry. The plugs are being used more extensively every day in the States, and I have recently received a report from Messrs. Hispano in France stating that their very extensive tests have given the most excellent results, that they consider this plug of great assistance to engine developement, and that they will co-operate with us as closely as possible to place this plug on the French market to ensure to them a source of local supply.
