X5450. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/MJ.4.4.30. BIJUR LUBRICATION OF THE SIDE STEERING TUBE. It will be remembered that we have found experimentally that the best way of obtaining proper lubrication of the cross-steering tube ball ends is to run the oil direct to them without passing through a drip-plug. The front end of the 20 HP. side steering tube is exactly the same as the cross-steering tube in construction. We therefore, recommend that it should be treated in the same way and the drip-plug deleted. There has been a shortage at this point on the car running in France.
