Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 7th January.

We are interested to hear the result of your test of the thermostatically controlled bonnet louvres.

From an efficiency point of view we are still of the opinion that a thermostat in the water circulation, in addition to thermostatically controlled radiator shutters, gives the ideal combination.

There can be no question that the time taken to warm up is considerably less when a water thermostat, instead of radiator shutters, is used.

Both from the point of view of appearance, and also for the purpose of keeping a constant under-bonnet temperature, we agree that radiator shutters have valuable features.

If the reports of Mr. Williams of the I.A.E. Research Department on the subject of cylinder wear are to be believed, there is much to be said for a method of control which gives quick initial warming up, and as far as we can see there are no snags in the use of both a water thermostat and thermostatically operated radiator shutters.

We shall be very pleased to supply you with a suitable thermostat for trial if you agree with our remarks.

Yours truly,
THE BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. LTD.
