Dear Mr. Fossett,

Thank you for your letter of the 7th November.

I agree that it is almost impossible to give the relation between knock rating and compression ratio in general terms. Could you, however, give me a figure for the C.F.R. unit, which would be a nice one to use ?

We should like to do some tests ourselves, but our facilities for varying the compression ratio are very limited.

The curves will be very useful, for which many thanks.
